Mens Plastic Surgery Types

Appearance is very important these days. As a result, many have started to consider plastic surgery to improve both their appearance and self-confidence. These days there are may enhanced technology and surgical techniques that could heal in shorter time than in the past; men can change they way they look with a minimum of downtime and inconvenience. Currently some of the most popular types of mens plastic surgery are liposuction, gynecomastia (breast reduction) correction and .rhinoplasty (nose surgery).

Liposuction

Liposuction in the context of male plastic surgery that focuses on removing extra areas of fat at the waist, commonly known as “love handles.” Most men experience fat accumulated in this area of the body, usually as they grow older. Liposuction is a great choice for men who like to have a trimmer waistline, but lazy to achieve it through diet and exercise.

As with liposuction in other areas of the body, the removal of love handles begins with tiny incisions made in the area around which the fat will be removed. Then fluid that contains numbing agents and other medication is introduced into the area. Using liposuction cannulas, which are small hollow tubes to remove both the liquid and accompanying fat through the same incisions. When the procedure is complete, dressings will be placed over the incisions. You may experience some soreness and swelling for about two weeks.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia, or the condition of breast development in a man, estimated to affect about 60 percent of American men. Although it does not pose any particular health risks, many men with gynecomastia like to have the excess skin and tissue removed for aesthetic reasons. The male breast tissue can be attributable to several causes, such as weight gain, usage of certain drugs, and disease of the liver. This method results in very little noticeable scarring. If your case is more extensive, it may need to make a larger incision; however, most patients find that the benefits of the surgery outweigh the chances of being left with a visible scar.

After the surgery, you may need to wear a compression garment for several weeks following your surgery. Swelling and mild discomfort are common following gynecomastia treatment, but will subside with time. Most men are able to return to work within a few days of undergoing the procedure, provided that they do not perform any heavy lifting.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is basically a surgery for the nose, or commonly known as nose job. The main key of this surgery is reshape the nose bone to the wanted shape. It is very important for you to be honest with your surgeon about your desired outcome and expectations because rhinoplasty requires artistry as well as medical expertise.

Most rhinoplasty procedures take about two hours. Depends on the type of the procedure, either local or general anesthesia will be used. During the surgery, the surgeon will separate the skin on the nose from the underlying tissue; then reshape the bone and cartilage into the desired shape. Incisions are usually made in non appearable locations, such as between the nostrils or inside the nose. After the surgery is complete, a splint and bandage will be applied, and you will be able to go home.

For the first couple of days, you will probably experience a dull, aching sensation, it is normal and can be controlled with pain medication that will be prescribed to you. Swelling and bruising will also occur, most of which will subside within two weeks. You may experience random swelling for two months after the surgery, but it is generally very difficult to notice.
